Seize the Day

Every year we go to our out-of-town friend's house for Super Bowl weekend. I don't normally watch the game. I'm just there for the "ride". I typically amuse myself flitting about taking pictures and hanging out near the kitchen (you know, where the food is).

This year there was a new addition to one of their family members. A three-week old adorable little guy named Logan. He arrived asleep and strapped in his seat. I took a couple of  pictures of him and went on my merry way.

Once he was out and being passed around for a while, I asked his mom if I could snatch him and take a few pics. She gave me the thumbs up and away we went, just the two of us.

No wardrobe. No background changes. No plan. Just a friendly spur-of-the-moment photo shoot.

I love being spontaneous.

Be Yourself

The other day I was putting together a photo book on line that showcases RaG MoP Photography. It is filled with some of my best work with kids/teens. I was almost done with it and I was just missing a few pieces. I had one page that was half done. It was of a teen and I wanted the other side to be a teen as well, but I was fresh out of pictures.

So, I had a meeting to go to and I ran into one of my favorite people - Homie (not her real name). She lives around the corner from me and I've been wanting to take pics of her for a while, but I haven't been able to pin her down. She didn't really have a spare moment the rest of the day, so we just ducked around the building and found a good cement wall as a background. I wasn't planning this impromptu photo shoot, so I didn't really have any pre-planned ideas.

We got started and she said, "I don't know what to do. Give me some direction." "Just be yourself," I said. Feeling a little self-conscious and on the spot, she giggled and made a goofy face and a grand gesture. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. After that, it was just a matter of different posing, relaxation and fun.

Love my home girl!!!

Family of Four

A couple of months back I did a fun photo shoot of an adorable family. Let me tell you, when there is a one year old in the mix and he's on the move, the photo shoot follows him, not the other way around. You get the shots you get and when he's done with this scene and on to the next, grab your bags, because the traveling band is headed down the road to the next destination. It doesn't get boring, that's for sure.

This was a cute big sister - little brother duo that both had fabulous smiles.

Beautiful family...beautiful photos.
