Seize the Day

Every year we go to our out-of-town friend's house for Super Bowl weekend. I don't normally watch the game. I'm just there for the "ride". I typically amuse myself flitting about taking pictures and hanging out near the kitchen (you know, where the food is).

This year there was a new addition to one of their family members. A three-week old adorable little guy named Logan. He arrived asleep and strapped in his seat. I took a couple of  pictures of him and went on my merry way.

Once he was out and being passed around for a while, I asked his mom if I could snatch him and take a few pics. She gave me the thumbs up and away we went, just the two of us.

No wardrobe. No background changes. No plan. Just a friendly spur-of-the-moment photo shoot.

I love being spontaneous.

Be Yourself

The other day I was putting together a photo book on line that showcases RaG MoP Photography. It is filled with some of my best work with kids/teens. I was almost done with it and I was just missing a few pieces. I had one page that was half done. It was of a teen and I wanted the other side to be a teen as well, but I was fresh out of pictures.

So, I had a meeting to go to and I ran into one of my favorite people - Homie (not her real name). She lives around the corner from me and I've been wanting to take pics of her for a while, but I haven't been able to pin her down. She didn't really have a spare moment the rest of the day, so we just ducked around the building and found a good cement wall as a background. I wasn't planning this impromptu photo shoot, so I didn't really have any pre-planned ideas.

We got started and she said, "I don't know what to do. Give me some direction." "Just be yourself," I said. Feeling a little self-conscious and on the spot, she giggled and made a goofy face and a grand gesture. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. After that, it was just a matter of different posing, relaxation and fun.

Love my home girl!!!
