Big Brown Eyes

I have to say that I love to capture the angelic faces of children. They are so full of expression and curiosity. The big eyes, silky smooth skin, fabulous smiles and all-around adorableness. As I write this, I find that I could insert several different kids that I've photographed in this blog, but I have one specific little guy in mind for this one.

I met little Noah for his six month photos. Oh, those big brown eyes!!! Big enough to melt your heart. They just reach out to you in every picture. Such a cutie! And, what a personality!

Showing 'Em What You Got

I have someone that may be considering me for their family portraits. I realize that I need more of that here to have a well-rounded representation of what I have under my belt. What I'm capable of. By the way, I am currently working on my first website...stay tuned.

I photographed this family a while ago. Actually, it was my first real paying gig. A friend of a friend. I was on my own with the light set up for the first time. Admittedly, I was a little nervous, but it all turned out fine. All in all, we had a really good time and I got some great shots. The key is for YOU to relax, put THEM at ease and have fun.

I have to say that every photo session is a learning experience. I always come away with something new. It could be stumbling upon a fresh editing technique, conquering a posing challenge, being aware of your photo composition and lighting, or even a near disaster that teaches me a lesson. Thankfully, no real disasters yet. Best of all, I get a new-found sense of accomplishment and added self-confidence. Plus, I love doing it!!!

The Avery Project

In February I embarked on a year long project. My niece had her third baby and I went for the newborn shoot. I proposed that I come each month and document the first year of life. She jumped all over that and we have a standing date at the end of each month.

This endeavor has a many-fold purpose.

* I get to practice my craft - posing, taking, editing.
* I make different outfits for each shoot, so I now have a growing stock of prop choices.
* It gets my creative juices flowing.
* My portfolio is getting larger.
* It's a test to see if I want to offer this service and what it's worth.
* It reaffirms how much I love to do this.
* Mom and dad get a boatload of pics of the kiddies.
* And a big bonus, I'm getting close with my niece and nephew and their three adorable chittlins.

Avery has a big brother and sister that I always include in the mix. They don't always pose together as they are a rambunctious bunch of free spirits. Sometimes they want to participate and sometimes they don't.
