The Avery Project

In February I embarked on a year long project. My niece had her third baby and I went for the newborn shoot. I proposed that I come each month and document the first year of life. She jumped all over that and we have a standing date at the end of each month.

This endeavor has a many-fold purpose.

* I get to practice my craft - posing, taking, editing.
* I make different outfits for each shoot, so I now have a growing stock of prop choices.
* It gets my creative juices flowing.
* My portfolio is getting larger.
* It's a test to see if I want to offer this service and what it's worth.
* It reaffirms how much I love to do this.
* Mom and dad get a boatload of pics of the kiddies.
* And a big bonus, I'm getting close with my niece and nephew and their three adorable chittlins.

This is the first of the series. Avery - The Newborn

I like to try and tailor some of their props to Mom and Dad's likes. We have Disney fans here.

Mom requested "The Turtle".

A little Mommy and Daddy action.

Getting down to the basics.

Got to throw a little RaG MoP colors in when I can.

Mommy likes the little curlique on his head.

And don't forget the occasional super hero.

I'm Bored

Avery has a big brother and sister that I always include in the mix. They don't always pose together as they are a rambunctious bunch of free spirits. Sometimes they want to participate and sometimes they don't.

The Big Follow-Up

The great thing about a maternity shoot is that in just a few weeks I get to do a newborn session...Bonus!!!

But first, I'm going to add a couple of belly shots of Wendy that I took throughout the pregnancy. I have to go into my old office a couple of times a month to pick up stuff and each time a came in, I would photograph Wendy's growing baby bump.

And, along comes Tristan, an adorable pudgy little boy that you could just gobble up.

Don't worry, we didn't take him to the beach.
